Note la o recitire a legendei Mesterului Manole
Pornind de la ideea cã, adesea, mitul nu face adesea decât sã ascundã sensuri pentru a le feri de distorsiuni, eseul propune o dezbatere a motivului folcloric a sacrificiului pentru constructie dintr-o perspectivã simbolicã. Autoarea interpreteazã actul mesterului care-si zideste sotia drept consacrare misticã a unei icoane, în vreme ce adevãratul constructor din legendã este Negru-Vodã, fondatorul unei axe verticale - biserica - într-o culturã unde spatiul fusese reprezentat, pânã atunci, doar în plan orizontal. Notes to a New Reading of Master Manole’s Romanian Folk Legend (Abstract) The starting point of the following essay is the hypothesis that myths hide meanings in order to avoid meaning distorsions. The author debates the folk motif of the sacrifice necessary for raising a building from a symbolic perspective. She interprets the act of the mason who encloses his wife in the wall as mystic consecration of an icon, while the real builder in the legend is Negru-Vodã (the Black King), as Negru-Vodã sets up a vertical axis in a culture who used to represent space only at horizontal level. |
